The Family Policy Studies Centre, the UK's leading independent centre for research, policy analysis and information on families, closed at the end of April 2001, due to funding difficulties. For twenty-three years, FPSC was a centre for the study of family and policy questions:

  • the understanding of contemporary family structures and patterns, the changes taking place, and the implications of such changes for policy and practice;
  • the analysis of the impact of public policy decisions on families of different kinds;
  • a centre of information, dissemination and debate;
  • by serving as a bridge between policy-makers, academics and practitioners;
  • by producing a range of publications for the widest possible public.
