Dr Dagmar Kutsar, Diploma in Psychology (University of Tartu, 1975); Ph.D. (Psychology, University of Tartu, 1995)

Professor Dagmar Kutsar  has been Professor of Social Policy at the University of Tartu since September 2001 and  head of the Unit of Family and Welfare Studies  since 1991. Previously she was Associate Professor of Empirical Sociology (1995-2001).  Her research interests are: Family, childhood and welfare research and policies (including poverty and social exclusion/inclusion, childhood relative deprivation and poverty, changing family structures and family decision-making), social indicators and social reporting (problems of international comparability, elaboration of a national social monitoring system in Estonia).

Her current research activities include: The Estonian Centre of Health and Behavioural Sciences (founded in Dec 2001);  Nordic Family Research Network; Cost A19  “Children’s Welfare“ (EU);  EU 5FP project IPROSEC, Estonian Science Foundation (head of Expert Commission of Social Sciences); European Science Foundation, Standing Committee on Social Sciences (representative of Estonia and a member of the core group).
