Family Law and Family Values
John Eekelaar has completed a review of the law of personal obligations in 'Family Law and Personal Life', OUP Oxford 2006.
The Justice System: Openness and Transparency
Julia Brophy has completed a review of access to family courts in other common law jurisdictions supported by the Nuffield Foundation, contributing to the Ministry of Justice consultation process.
Care Proceedings:
Julia Brophy has completed a literature review for the Ministry of Justice to support the Interdepartmental Child Care Proceedings Review.
Parental Contact:
Joan Hunt with Alison Macleod is carrying out a study of process and outcome in applications for contact using court records, funded by the Ministry of Justice and requested by Ministers during the passage of the Children and Adoption Act 2007.
Robert George is researching relocation contact cases.
Professional Intervention in Family Matters
Mavis Maclean and John Eekelaar with Cate Hemmingway and Katie Rainscourt are studying the work of the Family Bar in England and Wales, supported by the Nuffield Foundation. This work will be supported by a visit from Dr Helen Rhoades, from the University of Melbourne, who has completed a major study of the relationship between lawyers and mediators in divorce and separation in Australia.
The legislative Process
Peter Harris with Mavis Maclean is holding a series of witness seminars on the making of the Children Act 1989 and the Child Support Act 1991, to examine the relationship between ministerial and departmental contributions to the process. The next seminar will take place on November 16 2007 at St. Anne's College Oxford, on the Making of The Child Support Act 1991.
